TAMIL NADU ROAD SECTOR PROJECT II
TNRSP–II has been formed for upgrading important road corridors to cater to high density traffic within the State, funded by the World Bank.
The Wing functions under the control of a Project Director. The Project Director is assisted by 1 Chief Engineer, 2 Superintending Engineers and 8 Divisional Engineers. The project involves upgradation and maintenance of high intensity traffic corridors of around 1187 Kms.
Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) Contracts:
In this mode of EPC contract, the contractor has to design, construct and maintain the road. Under this contract 427.967 km length of roads have been taken up for widening and upgrading to 2 lanes with paved shoulders in 10 Packages for a value of Rs.1704.91 Cr and the works were completed.

Output and Performance Based Road Contracts (OPRC):
Roads already upgraded in TNRSP phase 1 have been taken up for maintenance under OPRC mode for a period of 5 years. Under this Contract, 2 packages for a total length of 581.493 Km have been taken up for maintenance for a value of Rs.220.07Cr.
Public Private Partnership (PPP Contract):
“Four laning of the Road SH-37 - Oddanchatram – Dharapuram – Avinashipalayam section of SH 37 from Km 37/400 to Km 108+400” for a length of 70.2 Km has been completed under PPP mode and presently it is under 8-year maintenance period.

DPR Preparation by using Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board (TNIDB) Fund:
An amount of Rs.132.76 Crore has been sanctioned for Preparation of Detailed Project Reports for a length of 3319 Km roads under TNIDB fund. Out of this 3319 Km, 718.709 Km length of roads have been taken-up in first phase by engaging project preparation consultants in 5 packages.
DPR Preparation for Transforming Chennai City roads into Smart Urban roads
Under Chennai City Partnership-2 (CCP) Programme i.e., Urban Mobility and Spatial Development (UMSD) with the World Bank Loan Assistance, for developing 134.20 km length of eight major roads in Chennai City into smart roads, preparation of Detailed Project Report is under progress at a cost of Rs.15. 94 Crore. The DPR preparation has been awarded to the consultant, M/s. L & T Infrastructure Engg Ltd., Chennai in two packages for a length of 54.50Km & 79.70Km.
